Rewriting Our History, Changing Our Traditions - Glenn Beck - FOXNews.com
Just one more example to be read in conjunction with the last two threads. Please let all who love this country and where it came from take notice. Religious or not, the traditions and history of our country are being challenged by a group of people that would rewrite our history to invoke thought processes that are not accurate. From there, they have their own design of how to control your life the way they see it. To do this, they must invoke your anger to want change...so they twist our history and phrase things to give you impressions that are not accurate.
...and according to Michelle Obama...they already said this is exactly what they want to do!!
"...Barack knows we are going to have to make sacrifices...we are going to have to change our traditions, our history, we're going to have to move into a different place as a nation..."
Please read all the examples Glen gives of how our history and heritage, as Michelle has said, are coming under attack. I believe God is bringing all this to a for front through so many venues that we can protect the wonderful heritage and investment He has made into this country.
God bless America

Hi PJ
ReplyDeleteWell I don't imagine this should come as a surprise that this is happening when the foundational principles this Country were founded on have been:
1. vilified
2. grotesquely distorted beyond recognition
3. blatantly corrupted and/or
4. simply forgotten.
As most Americans have never read the federalist papers, let alone our Constitution, it shouldn't be surprising that the principles emobodied within these historical artifacts would eventually become completely foreign to an overwhelming majority of our population.
So when then candidate Obama and now President Obama waxes "artfully" about all that is wrong with America, malign's it's history, and rests the responsibility of the world's ills at our doorstep AND we elect him any way; then why are we even surprised?
If the foundation of your principles bear little resemblance to those possessed by the likes of Adams, Washington, Madison, Jefferson, et.al., then why would we should expect any effort to inculcate these principles into successive generations.
If you're led to believe that everything these "dead white guys" believed in is hopelessly outdated then should we expect anything they believed to be institutionally preserved in any fashion - let alone be foundational principles from which to govern? Probably not when the commander-in-chief himself believes these principles are inherently corrupt.
While I fully accept that God is in control of things, I don't hold out much hope that the eyes of our understanding will be re-opened to the Judeo-Christian principles that this Country is founded upon. I applaud Glenn Beck's attempt to put these ideas front and center to, at the very least, 'educate' a population previously content to let someone else do their homework for them. However, I question how deep the reawakening is when we, as a nation, only seem to get really t'd off when the 'debate' directly effects them. This is not new stuff but now it's really hitting close to home.
How much of today's discontent would the Country attribute to the fact that we kicked God "to the curb" vs. how much would they attribute to a frustration with "special" and "privileged" interests taking a sledgehammer to this Country's fiscal house with a smattering of loss of freedom thrown in?
We live in a Country where the mere mention of Jesus' name in public creates a firestorm of offense. Doesn't sound like a place that would hold special favor with our Creator.

ReplyDeleteExtreme Right - I don't know whether to be seriously alarmed by your comments WRT ".40 cal Glock" or to treat them as an example of over-exuberant emotional hyperbole. I would submit that either way - your assasin's bullet remark probably only serves to reinforce stereotypical views of conservatives as a bunch of Timothy McVeigh wannabes waiting to be unleashed. You may pose great arguments for what's wrong with the current status quo, but I don't imagine many will sign onto your "proposed remedy." Perhaps you might be persuaded to offer a remedy that won't likely be dismissed out of hand.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is NOT Cloward-Piven. Its not Saul Alinsky. It's the fact that the side that opposes the likes of Saul Alinsky often lacked the "talent" to articulate an argument in such a fashion that would compel most to consign the Saul Alinsky's of the world to the ash heap of irrelevancy. However, the times now are changing.
The meteoric rise of Glenn Beck is entirely predicable. He possess an innate talent to use humor, sarcasm and wit (along with an unrelenting and logical presentation of observable facts) to make the arguments of these folks look entirely incoherent and indefensible. His self-effacing nature makes it very difficult to paint this guy as the extreme right's equivalent of Keith Doberman - try as they may. Keith Olberman's rapidly vanishing ratings would suggest he's contributing very little to the national dialogue other than excessive levels of CO2. In contrast, there is abundant evidence that Glenn Beck is having an enormous influence on the national debate and causing progressives no small amount of gastric distress.
I believe in reasoned and logical debate. Articulate an argument and deliver it in a self-effacing, non-self aggrandizing manner where one doesn't seek to insult but to persuade and solutions just seem to present themselves.
wdtate – no need to be alarmed, I do apologize for my exuberant hyperbole offending anyone. Fortunately I am still blessed and not prepared to do anything more radical than hold radical views. That being said, the point I want to try to make is that our institutions in our society have acquired too much power over the individual. By institutions I mean not just government but also educational and corporate. The banks that were bailed out last year are part of a prime example of institutions growing to powerful over too many individuals. If these did fail, they would take down not just those unwise enough to take out subprime loans but pretty much everyone else. I’m not as much worried about the McVeigh wannabes, those are rare. The most potentially dangerous individuals are those whose quality of life is taking a sudden downturn. History has often shown that those are the people that are most likely to take radical action. If we finally run out of other people’s money and our great debt finally catches up to us, these institutions will fail a lot of folks across the country could start facing a sudden downturn in quality of life. If this happens then that is when may be apt to see people radicalized and looking for someone to blame. This is more likely if great numbers of people experience a great downturn in their lives. We’re not there yet (neither am I) and with folks who like Glenn Beck and Jay Severin and others in our media, we may not actually get there. Thank God for them and their being smarter and having more whit than me.
ReplyDeleteNo offense taken. Enthusiasm is great. Want our side to be heard clearly and with a powerful influence and I pray it isn't just the Glenn Beck's of the world that carries the water.
ReplyDeleteThose that want to tell us how to live our lives, dictate was is acceptable speech, etc., let their own words lead to their bankrupt dictates being tossed onto a burnt ash heap.
Been so busy, haven't checked in 'till now...good job and posts
ReplyDeleteJus thought I'd drop in this appropo comment from Cal Thomas, Columnist:
ReplyDelete"The more we come to rely on government, the fewer freedoms we will enjoy. Government will start dictating what we can own, eat and drive, how much of our money they will let us keep, how we run our businesses, how many -- if any -- guns we can own, and what we may and may not say. Oh, wait! They are already doing that."
